How to robot assembly with arduino – part 1

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROBOT ASSEMBLY

This project is for an arduino robot car, it is not necessary any previous knowledge, although I would recommend to start with the projects that arduino has to take the base. If you do not have the arduino kit you can always try the arduino simulator which is very interesting although I recommend buying the original one that is the one that has been used for this project.

—ROBOT MATERIALS :

-Arduino one

-Chasis for Robot type car (wheels and two DC motors included)

-Driver of engines L298N

-Sensor ultrasound HC-SR04

-Cables and resistors that come with the arduino one kit

-Protoboard that comes with the kit also

-4 AA batteries

The connection scheme is as follows: L298N motor driver powered by 4 AA batteries, Arduino one powered by the same batteries directly to Vin, (There are several ways to power Arduino, we will see later), L298N motor driver connected to the wheel motors, L298N motor driver connected to arduino uno, arduino one connected to the protoboard and protoboard connected to ultrasound sensor HC-SR04

We start by assembling the chassis with the wheels and DC motors, in this base we will put all the components mine had two floors, in the one above I have put the protoboard and the HC-SR04 sensor and in the one below the arduino one the driver of L298N engines and AA batteries. But you can put them as you want taking into account that the weight will have to go behind if it is a 2-wheel robot, I mean AA batteries that is what weighs more. The batteries can also go under the base but they will have to be secured, in this case.

We will have to make the connections of the cables according to the pieces or as we come better but we must take into account the length of the cables to reach us where we found them placed in our base .

The AA batteries are connected to the driver at the Vin and ground inputs. The motors are connected to the corresponding right and left inputs of the driver. Then the pins of the driver to control the motors we will connect directly to arduino, they are four pins for the two motors. Now we connect two arduino pins to the breadboard for the HC-SR04 sensor and we also connect ground and V5 + output to the breadboard to feed the sensor. With this we have the hardware that is necessary to upload our program to the arduino. We can also improve it with a switch, a speaker and a led all this in the breadboard with its corresponding pins to the arduino, but this is optional.   In the next part we will see how to upload our program to the arduino.
